SONS OF THE PIONEERS' WIVES
Baby shower for Buddie Perryman. (The Calin Coburn Collections ©2004)
Left to right: Margo (?), Peggy (Mrs. Shug) Fisher, Fern (Mrs. Sam) Allen, Claudina (Fayetta's twin sister), Fayetta (Mrs. Pat) Brady, Rosita (Mrs. Hugh) Farr, P-Nuts (Mrs. Bob) Nolan, Mae (Mrs. Karl) Farr, Velma (Mrs. Tim) Spencer, and Buddie (Mrs. Lloyd) Perryman, seated.
This photo was taken while Lloyd Perryman and Pat Brady were off to war. The wives were a close-knit group of friends. P-Nuts Nolan had an especially close friend in Buddy Perryman right to the end of her life. The Pioneers took their wives with them on tour whenever possible. Karl E. Farr recalls spending nine months in Chicago in 1940. Lloyd and Buddy spent their honeymoon on tour all the way to Washington, DC. In the background of this page we are playing Bob Nolan's "Half Way 'Round the World", a song he wrote for Lloyd and Pat and their wives. Martha Mears sang it on the March 3, 1944 Dr. Pepper "10-2-4 Ranch" program.
