The Classic Sons of the Pioneers

Reunited after WWII

Bob Nolan, Tim Spencer, Lloyd Perryman, Pat Brady and the Farr Brothers became known as "The Classic Sons of the Pioneers" or "The Aristocrats of the Range" first to their fans, then to music historians. This was the group that appeared in Columbia's Charles Starrett westerns and won the hearts of America.

Lloyd Perryman and Pat Brady were called up and served in the American Army during World War II and were replaced by Ken Carson and Shug Fisher for the duration. Lloyd returned in early January of 1946 and Pat returned shortly afterward. Ken Carson remained for awhile longer but it was necessary for Shug to leave the group. With the return of Lloyd and Pat, the group became the Classic Sons of the Pioneers once more.

Republic Pictures captured that historic reunion for posterity with shots of the transition from uniform back to costume. Many of these photographs are familiar but several poses have seldom been seen.
