Campfires of Heaven
I’m dreaming of a day before my old pals went away. I wonder where they are. Within my fancy, I can see their campfires in the sky In every silver star.
The world’s at rest, the stars are shining their best Like glowing campfires of heaven. When all is still, I picture Buffalo Bill Beside his campfire in heaven, Calling to his buddies, “Come over for a spell.” Then I hear the songs and the stories that they tell Of that distant day when each one wandered away To build his campfire in heaven Among the campfires of heaven.
